I decided to join the Enbridge Ride To Conquer Cancer this year. I thought it would be a good way to challenge myself mentally and physically while raising funds for a cause dear to my heart. Below is what I wrote on my personal page and how I kicked off a 5 month journey.

Like many of you, I have lost people to this insidious disease. I also went through the cancer experience myself first hand.

I was diagnosed with Stage II breast cancer in the fall of 2015. I believe in my heart that it was caught early and I am going to live a long, healthy life. I feel this confidence because of the treatments made possible by medical advancements, funded through efforts of events like this. These events are a success because of your generous spirit, and a desire to make a difference.

Having gone through a double mastectomy, chemotherapy, radiation and now hormone treatment, I understand that it’s a long, hard climb. I made treatment decisions based on what I felt gave me the best chance at survival. I am on the road to recovery today, because of the ongoing research to conquer cancer.

Going through cancer has an impact on everyone, including family, friends and co-workers. I am riding in the 2017 Conquer Cancer Ride for myself, for my fellow Warriors, my family, my friends, for future survivors, and in memory of fallen Warriors.

If you want me to ride for you, a loved one, or someone you know, please leave me a personal message on the donation page. On ride day, I will carry your loved ones name in my back pocket. We will complete this epic journey, and make a difference together.
